i asked him to go to the bank with me on saturday morning so we can conduct the deal at the bank, pick up the title, and take home the car on the spot. this was his reply... "Michael, I wish I could do it that way...but its Lexus Financial, not a local bank. I have to do it through the mail, and I don't have the cash to pay off what I owe on the car until basically sell it at the same time. I don't have any easy way to speed the process. I understand your concern, and like I said, when I get the title, I can probably meet you somewhere between here and there. I'll be home tomorrow morning, so 10am, give or take a half hour is fine." so what do you guys think? i really can't get screwed if he gives me a receipt for the deposit and i have his home address, drivers license number, work info, etc. right? does his reasoning sound legit? sorry, i'm new at buying a car from a private owner. tell me if i should just walk away or trust this guy. p.s. when i bought my z, it was so much easier! i paid cash, picked up the car and title, and drove it home =)
