treated motor build...the internals and the block were treated, they expected that this would strengthen the block, since they over-boared it...thus reducing the amount of material between the cylinder walls and water passages. So, for them it was a combination of prevention, and overall longevity of the motor. I'd say it's well worth it, and if you have the opportunity, go for it. They have some good research information in the article, it was with the 'wolf' Z, a white one...I even have the artcle at home somewhere, search here and a copy is posted.
