| You are correct...there is a difference between the J and A spec downpipes. Heres the difference: A-spec: The "downpipes" coming off of the turbo are actually precats. The precats then mate with the midpipes which have the main cats. The midpipes on the TT are shorter than the midpipes on an NA due to the length of the precats. The NA midpipe has more of a curve and extends further upward (on the side torward the engine) to be able to mate with the exhaust manifolds (headers) J-spec: The downpipes coming off the turbo are actually just that...downpipes. They are fully open, cast metal pipes that mate to the midpipes. However, they are shorter than the precats and therefore do not extend downward as far off of the turbo. Because of this, japanese TTs use the US NA midpipes to mate with them. In the aftermarket world, all downpipes for the Z are made to mate with US spec TT midpipes.
