Message I bought '91 normally aspirated, 5-speed gearbox, 2-seater and have been thrilled with the purchase. Basically the key I guess would be to find a car in as good of condition as possible for the money. I didn't have that much money so I settled for a high mileage one (125,000 miles). Yes, this is high! But the car is in wonderful condition. Just got done driving it and it's terrific.

Problems I've had:
1. Bad u-joints in driveshaft - (replaced/upgraded to lightweight shaft)

2. Bad power steering pump.

3. Repainted the hood (bonnet? engine cover?)

That's about it!
As it seems, these are the typical problems one may see on ANY car. But I have no regrets. Repair expense was minimalised due to the dicounts and knowledge/resources we all have on this forum.

Regards,
