this:
if you look you can see where the heat wrap actually melted on the heater core hoses. and just under the brake line on the fire wall you can see the rubber grommet that the speedo cable goes through melted (white gooey shit on the firewall) and yes, im missing a valve cover bolt

which was dicovered when i saw this (had the windows down and radio up so i couldnt hear the exhaust get louder:
 which lead to this:
 and ultimatly this:
when the downpipe seperated completely it took out my speedo cable. i figured it just ripped it out of the trans, no biggie. kept going. then the car had more smoke inside than marshalls, so i thought something caught fire. pulled over, looked under the car, hood and found nothing. the pipe was just ahnging there. bigger issues now, but still ran so i pulled the air temp sensor so i wouldnt boost. drove under 3.5k rpm for another 20 or so more miles till i had no gas pedal. great...downpipe burned through the throttle cable (well melted the rubber case and the metal wire inside). then the heater core hose (which was wrapped with that fabric heat shield stuff) got too squishy form being so hot and started leaking. good times. but i figure why replace 2 lines and some wires when i can replace the engine/turbo thank someone for dan chivas! if it wasnt for tt.net i never would have met him and would have had to pay for the 60+ mile tow. many loves to dan. i called barry but he was too busy taken out more tt's
fear the miatAr Granted, that is my opinion, but it is the correct one - spee |
