| worthy. I can't understand how it would go backwards as far as scoring... especially when I think I heard the car show guy say they rejudged 23 cars. That's a 1/3rd of the show. Something's not right w/ the scoring system or the judging. Greg and I were simply amazed by your car and the little things that I saw 'wrong' with it were less then what I know about Greg's car (which is the first Gold Cup winner & took home a record 6 trophies from ZCON 2002). Greg even admitted his car would take second to yours if they competed now. Now that the ZCCA judged show is apparently losing favor to People's Choice (LA was limited to like 120 slots.. was this year limited to something larger then what actually checked the box to enter??), it's probably a good thing. It was almost like Special Olympics since there were so few cars in each category... almost everyone got a prize. Like Barney did. The car has a freaking PROPELLER on the back of it now... hopefully that's an indication of the 'quality' of some of the 'winners'. It's a combination of politics and inconsistancy & I don't think it will ever change. People's Choice is the way to go. Ever since I've been around the ZCCA show it's been tainted by this sort of thing. It'll never get better because the key to soliving it is for people like you to volunteer to be judges. But since you generally show first to get that interested in it, you learn first hand how poor it is and don't bother. I think I had this conversation with Carlos after 2003 & we reached the same conclusion. I was probably the only Z that didn't park in that dusty, poop filled field in San Antonio to get judged in '02... I didn't feel like bothering with it. I don't want to encourage others to do the same thing, but I think it should be plainly known now that if you enter, be prepared to be confounded by what happens next. OK, and just so I don't bitch and not offer a solution.. here's one way to fix it: People's Choice voting determines who gets judged for the Gold Cup/Medallion. You have to win your category to proceed. Then the judging is done by some sort of Olympic Standard where 10 judges judge the car and the high and low are pitched out & the rest are averaged... a score above n = big trophy. I don't blame you for your decision after this year's show... completely unbelievable.
