and family separation pay if married
and combat zone tax exclusion
and excellent medical benefits (granted less experienced docs)
and unbelievable money for education
and 2.5 days per month of PAID vacation time
the list goes on....Cops get shit on, treated like 2nd class people.
They're crooked? Name me one line of work that hasn't seen it's share of corruptness.....politician? ha. attorney? ha. professional athlete? ha. priest? I wont even go there.... MILITARY MEMBER? no exception See the common denominator here? they are all occupations held by PEOPLE, and are subject to all the bad apples that are in this world and the good ones too. You are a Marine? You should know better, but your statement "they hate us because we don't listen to them at all" shows wherein your real problem lies. Whether you spend 15 months in the desert or do your entire commitment on the tropical beaches in Okinawa, you are no more entitled to disregard civil authority than the crackhead who may decide to carjack your mom when she leaves work tomorrow and go on a high speed car chase. Our respect for one another and the laws that we all as a society deem necessary and appropriate to govern ourselves with is what seperates us from those shitheads in that godforsaken part of the world that you unfortunately had to piss away 15 months in. For you to come home and have that sort of attitude towards the men/women who try to make law enforcement work in your town is completely unprofessional and disgraceful. I dont know what you think being a military member is all about but it is not a free-pass that allows you to look down on those who you feel are lesser than you and disregard any authority that is not in your chain of command. Whether you agree with a law or not, hold total contempt for cops, that is your business and you are free to do so.
However as a PROFESSIONAL military member you are expected to rise above your personal feelings and do what is right at ALL times, no matter where you are. Bottom line, if this Cali law is so bad, then the uproar should be aimed directly at your politicians who are SUPPOSED to be setting laws according to the wishes of their constituents. Taking your frustrations out on some guy who has a shitty job that we all NEED someone to do, is wrong and is a reflection of ignorance. *soapbox dismounted*
