Message Higher octane full is harder to burn. Lower octane fuel burns easier.

For emissions, complete combustion is better. So running lower octane will help clean up the tail pipe.

For keeping a high boost turbo motor in one piece, high octane is better, to prevent pre-ignition, or detonation.

This is my basic understanding.
