Message "I would think that if Kenji Nakamura (Japanese Joe Smith) came over here and ran the fastest mile ever done in the US, his record would be just as valid of a "fastest US record". As long as the record setting run was done on US soil, I think it should count (as far as this point is concerned)."

Good point. I didn't think about that but it makes total sense just like *if* I took my car to Japan and broke the Japan record. I will agree with you on this.

"So, at what point would we say that a Z32 is not a Z32 anymore? If you were to replace your panels with carbon fiber panels, would that still be a Z32?"

Well when you don't even start with a Z32 frame I would not consider it a Z32 as is the case with the Blitz tube frame car and a few others.

"In my book, the second that a car becomes a tube-framed car, it's no longer equivalent to the street car version. I personally find the efforts of all the Honda racers running with the original frames and only hitting 9's is much more impressive than Stephen Papidakas' (sp?) 8 sec tube framed Honda (not to take away from what you are doing with your car)."

WOOOOOOOOAAAHHHHH!!! Are you saying that my car is tube frame?? It is far from tube frame. The only thing that is tube is the roll cage and the part where the shocks mount and the four link mounts to. The factory frames rails are completely stock from the rear fender well forward. So I still consider my car a Z32 in all senses of the meaning.

"Hmm... as someone mentioned in the middle of all this, Z32 refers to the chassis. There's no such thing as a "Z32 motor"... its official designation is "VG30DE(TT)". But again, at what point do we consider something not being a Z32? What if it were some sort of hybrid engine with a VG bottom end and the rest from the VQ engine (not that it's possible, but just hypothetically speaking). Could we still consider that a VG motor?"

Exactally....It should retain a VG30DE motor. Hell a RB motor isn't even a V6.

"I also think that it was pretty convenient how all of this clarification came about AFTER the bet was made (kind of like making up rules in the middle of a game)... and that the clarification only came from one side (to obviously benefit that side). It doesn't matter anyways because I know that you were just trying to stop all the talk going on and weren't serious about the bet."

LOL. That was *my* point. One side said they would take a bet that *their* car would beat *any* SGP Z32 this year without even seeing or knowing what we had in store :-). I *never* said what kind of Z32 it was...I just said an *SGP Z32* would hold the record and they started talking smack. So to end the smack talking I upped the anny to a 10K bet to let them know I meant business. Then I previewed my car before I wanted to prove a point and I think I did :-). No more bet or smack talking :-).

I will bet you right now that a SGP Z will hold or keep the record this year :-)....Kyle(Houston) on March 07, 2001 at 10:09 pm

I'll take that bet:).....Rob (Miami) on March 09, 2001 at 4:55 pm

WILL TAKE THAT BET!!!!!....Gil(Miami) on March 09, 2001 at 8:04 pm

If you want to bet Rob's car against an SGP car(*Z32*) then I will put up 10 grand. Quickest 1/4 mile time by the end of the year....Kyle(Houston) on March 09, 2001 at 8:46 pm
