Message handling is very subjective terminology. So it might happen that one might think one thing handles better than the other. I can say, from experience, that the Z handles much better. This is based on what a car with these credentials should drive like. Before you get pissy about the comment about the Supra being a Camry on Steroids, listen up some more. I have driven many different Camrys for a while. A few of the newer models (99 and 00) and a (96), all three were V6 models. Anyway, after spending much time behind the wheel and tossing them around in the hills for a while(only cars I had access to at the time), I became very familiar with their handling characteristics. Then I drove a Supra TT 6spd and because of the Camry experience, I was not thoroughly impressed. I mean the car is great, and yes if it is a couple of tenths faster if driven perfectly floats your boat, then by no means is the Supra an underachiever. The Supra has much more noticable body roll, it doesn't feel as fast and connected(when pushed harder, Jack) and it is too damn soft (Tell me how many Supra owners are at track events, (not drags))! I thought to myself while looking at the backseat, damn, just buy a GS400 or now even an IS300 when the six speed comes. That way it gives you just about the same ride and is more practical, and for drizz, the xenon lights(what ever happened to that guy?).
Now you may be asking why is he telling me all this, but Jack, there is a point I am construing. The ride and feel is what I believe constitutes the concept of handling. The Z feels more like sports cars of the past in comparison to the Supra, especially by its ride and almost flat stance in cornering, and this is why I say the Z is a better handler.
Give me bigger wheels and tires(Z's came stock with horrible rubber and the 16's are too small, both you and I know that) like the Supras and damn, I'll toast you on a 300ft. skidpad, just going in circles until I want to hurl. There is realy no point to this test which most car enthusiasts base handling comparisons because it doesn't prove much for everyday application. Where it does count is in your head on some back road or track where the handling provides you the confidence you need. You of all people should know Jack, you have had both. Let me know what you think,
