because my Z is still in the process of a tt conversion. I went with the Z1 tranny because Z1 is fairly close to Savannah GA and I have used their products before with no ill effects. I checked with Ash before I bought the tranny from Z1 and he said there were very few incidences of people complaining or returning the tranny for quality issues. Given Ash's relationshp with Z1 right now, I think he would have been honest about any quality issues regarding Z1.
On the other hand, I have a friend that has a built Greg D. transmission in his 600hp Z and no problems what-so-ever. My Z is running sport 500 turbos, so I chose Z1 because I am not going to have the insane hp that would require a Greg D tranny. Your choice. If I were running bigger turbos, I probably would have went with Greg. But for stock or sport 500's, I believe the Z1 tranny should do the trick.
