| My dad was a mechanic for most of my childhood, so i was around cars all the time. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) he never owned any sports cars while i was growing up, the closest thing was probably the super beetle he fixed up and sold. Still, his knowledge of cars and all that wishwash gave me the bug for great cars. I was hitting the age where you're about to start driving, and i started lookign around. I was more than a year away from my permit, but I love cars... At first (i was 14 i believe) i had something for the honda crx. I don't know what it was, but i guess the short, sorta sporty body did something for my young eyes. Then, one day, i noticed this black bullet of a car sitting in the court next to ours. What was this beautiful vehicle? I took countless trips on my 2 wheeler (read : huffy) at first to find out what kind of car this was, and from then on, just to admire its beauty. For the next year or so i spent day in, day out, searching cars.com. I, too, didn't think i had a chance at getting a 300zx so I settled on a 240sx, or a starion (which i will own as a 2nd car...someday) But, as the story goes, i fell back into looking at the Z's. I set a limit at about 5000$, not really realizing the ramifications of a cheap Z. Time went on, and my parents would even stop to look at Z's they saw on the side of the road, etc. As i stated before, my father was a mechanic, but his days were done in the shop, so he had no wishes to be under the car with my first purchase (my sister VW gave him enough trouble) Finally, one summer day, I returned from getting my permit (and my first cell phone...talk about a teenagers best day ever??) when my mom came running out of the house with good news : she had found a Z. Although i originally wanted it to be black, or charcoal...I had given up on being picky and just wanted a 5spd. This car had that, AND low miles, AND garage kept...a dream come true? With the sun beginning to wade, we called the owners and made a 30 minute trip across the bridge (chesapeake bay) to the car in waiting. It was more beautiful than imagined...and i think that first love feeling i had...was mirrored by my parents reaction. Even though i had a limit...they threw it out the window and HAD to buy the car...it was in too good of condition to pass up ( read : spoiled) To this day, i love the car more than they would have imagined, i only hope i make the previous owner proud (after all...he sold it to the 15 year old)
