Message What makes you think that the engine never went past 5K rpms? And you realize that driving a manual transmission doesn't require running each gear to redline, right?

As long as the engine was well maintained and the compression and other critical items check out, there should be no problem with using the entire rpm range of the motor. But....unless you have a complete history of how this engine was maintained, all you can do is have the engine thoroughly inspected to be sure there aren't any obvious problems.
