Message Took the daily beater (mercedes) to get an oil change on Sunday and I am pissed. I figured I would be smart and call ahead to see if they had the filter...glad I did...they didn't have it in stock. So I ordered mine online and had it delivered. I even went a step further and even order the special oil filter key that you need to remove oil filter cover that the filter sits in. BTW- the oil filter is located on the top of the engine for oil changing ease, but you still gotta drain the oil on the bottom of the car. So, it's a cake walk basically...I just don't like pouring oil out in my alleyway anymore.

Anywho...took it in and left the filter I provided and the oil fiter key on the seat. Then I go grab a bite and plan to come back later. I get back in a few hours and the car is ready. I paid $46 for 7 quarts of synthetic so I was a little taken back but still paid it. Get in the car and my key is sitting on my drivers seat with a bunch of oil on it. So, yeah, oil on my leather seats....YAY! I wipe it off and brush the issue off and start driving. I get about 1 mile and notice the temps shooting up quickly. I stop the car...check the dipstick I am already down 3 quarts. First thought, they didn't tighten the oil pan bolt on tightly. I U-turn back to Wally World and pull up to service. I tell them that they gotta check it out, I am still amazed that they could screw up an oil change.

Now this is kinda funny but the kinda funny that you shouldn't laugh at cause it sucks if it happened to you.

The Mercedes comes with a standard splash guard, but for some reason doesn't have a drip hole...so all the oil that leaked out was now in a pool collecting in the oil pan. The service guys knew I was pissed and let me into the service area to watch over the event. I am standing next to the service manager as his "lead" Quick Lube guy only unbolt the two front bolt of the splash guard and pulls down the guard to take a look. I remember the guy had a set of nice Oakleys on, I remeber I had a pair like it in my car but wasn't worrying about that since my oil issue was bigger. In a instant, the guy gets a face full of oil in his eyes...the then slips in the oil after he's freaking out about hot oil burning out his eyes....gets up quickly....cracks his head on the passenger side tire and falls again. He is fully covered in oil as well as those nice "familiar" Oakley's he was wearing. I swear to god....it was the funniest thing I have ever seen. But again....it sucks if it happened to me. The guy was crying like a little girl, and it was funny that his service manager didn't want to get dirty he just kinda yelled a marco pollo of instructions to his employee. I finally snapped out of the stunned look I had on my face and help the poor gentleman off the floor. I get oil on me as well.

About 30 minutes go by and they clean up the guy, and the work station. By this time the head honcho Walmart Supervisor comes into the auto dept. The Auto dept manager put the 2nd best guy on the job, and jokingly mentions not to get oil in his eyes...a comment that the Walmart manager didn't seem to like. So they keep moving on to inspect the issues....well they left the crush washer off the oil pan bolt and didn't torque it all the way down. They cleaned the bottom of my engine for about another hour and filled up the engine again with more synthetic, bolted back the spash guard and cleaned my seat. The Walmart manager gives me a $35 gift certificate if I want to get some new clothes there at Walmart as well....so all in all...I'm not that pissed...and am a pretty easy going guy.

I get in my car, and reach for my shades that I always have in the same spot.....they're gone. I am pissed....I walk back into Walmart's auto dept and talk to the auto manager again. I explain the situation, without a pause, he walks up to the "lead" #1 guy and snatched the glasses off his head and brings em to me....yeah...they're mine...still covered in oil. They call the same head honcho of Walmart and me and the auto manager are inside the glass discussing the situation and looked through the window to the service station and noticed the "lead" guys wasn't there anymore. Then we look to the parking lot to see a car speeding off, the lead tech just booked it.

I start laughing, the Wally manager comes up and ask the problem. Me and the auto manager just start laughing, the head manager just look bewildered. Anywho, they give me another $25 for inconvenience. The auto manager told me next time I come to see him first and he will make sure that I get a free oil change and that he will do it himself. The head honcho just begged me not to call head office, which I said he didn't have to worry.

But still.......my god.............all that for an oil change. That was my Sunday afternoon.
