Without testing, it's really hard to know if the new foam they came up with will do anything for added stiffness. Testing would be rather inexpensive and simple. Find any university with a material testing system and have them do a 3 point bend test on box tubing w/ foam vs without. I know a professor here who would probably be more than willing to do it for a price the magazine would be willing to pay. Then you can give actual numbers that will back up the "we tried to use the visual method, but that didn't work to well... However, it feels nice." Because my car feels slightly different to me everytime I drive it if you put an idea in my head that tells me its different.
