Subject	Lack of engine noise and crazy idea

Message	I wish I could hear my engine more. With the windows up and the T-Tops on I can barely hear anything other than wind and road noise. At the track I was constantly looking at the tach to find when to shift which seemed kinda dangerous. With the windows down all I can hear is the wwwwssshhhhhh!!!! of the turbos reflecting off the trees, no rumble, no growl, almost nothing to correlate to RPM. I have watched a bunch of vids and listened to 100's of sound clips and my Z does not sound like any of them. Of course, I have a stock exhaust, does it really make that much difference to the sound? As a musician, I feel like the best way to be in tune with the car would be to cut a hole in the firewall to let some of the engine noise in, or just put some condenser mics under the hood and pipe the sound of the engine in through the speakers. Anybody tried this?
