show me that the same car could not have performed like that on 17" wheels.
Yes, they use 18's on a lot of cars. However, a lot of cars use really hugeass brakes under those wheels, and a bigger wheel could also allow for better cooling and airflow, blah blah blah.
You have plenty of examples of when 18's are used, but none of where 17's couldn't do as well.
