Message Since my engine won't have an EGR, I figured the EGR mounting area on the back of the lower plenum would be obsolete... so I cut it off =).
The logic behind this is that if I ever need to access the detonation sensor while the engine is in the car, this would make my life easier. I know this is nothing to write home about, but I figured I'd pass it along for whoever has deleted their EGR and has their lower plenum off.

Tools needed: a grinder.... that's it.

I payed particular attention to not nic the mating surface of the lower plenum to the heads. This takes 30 mins if the lower plenum is already off and you're being careful, so it's not a time consuming mod (if you can even call it that).

The back part of the lower plenum is actually an oil gallery that carries oil from one head to the other, so I didn't want to cut too high. The black line I drew is where the oil gallery passes through, so that was the highest limit I would cut. I feel I took off enough material to make it easier to remove the detonation sensor without removing the lower plenum later on. Time will tell...
If anything, it cleaned up the back area of the engine a bit.

On to the pics...
