I am an Aircraft Airframe Engineer and used to specialize in ECS (environmental control systems), Oxygen systems, Potable water and overboard services systems. Per FAA mandate and industry practices, we only use single flare on 304 stainless per MS33584. And even then, stainless can only be used between the oxygen cylinders and the overboard discharge indicator disk (oxygen systems only). Potable water is 37degree single flare stainless. All other oxygen systems are 5052-T0 aluminum lines which are all double flares. I've considered using our hydraulic flareing tool, but I try to disassociate work and home projects as much as possible. Thanks for everyones comments tho. I'm thinking I'll hit brake shops, or worst case, bring the line into work after hours and use our tools here. Double flare is a necessity, not optional.
