| at least that way you can track the car immediately, possibly recover it before it gets chopped. Alarms do little more than give the theif a headache, since every geo metro has one most people just tune them out anyway.
When I first bought my Z I didnt find out how the factory alarm worked and set it off myself by locking the doors with the windows down and TTops out then getting back in by reaching inside to unlock the doors, I was in a public place and not a single person paid a bit of notice to a 20 something male of hispanic appearance fumbling around inside a nice clean Z trying to get the stupid alarm to go off. Once I figured it out I just drove off as if nothing happened. Which is exactly what a thief will do with your car. As far as keeping stereo items protected, it's impossible, if someone wants to rip you off, they will and all an alarm will do is make noise. By LOJACK for theft, maybe buy a large snake to leave inside the car to prevent burglery.
