Message Also, do you want an alarm that prevents the car from being driven away, breaking in for parts or both?
You can have an el cheapo or an expensive alarm that a thief can mute the siren before braking in for parts, but yet be able to drive the car off.

As for me, I learned my lesson.
If you were in budget, get a system that you can at least add a self power siren. That way, even the power supply is being cut off, the siren still blasts to drive the thieves away unless they know where the siren locates and trash it asap.

But now, almost no one pays attention to the others' sirens and because of this, I would recommend you a 2 way paging system with some options, so that you can watch it out yourself to some extends.
I like the 2 way paging systems (Clifford, Viper, Python) offered by DEI ([ http://www.directed.com ]).

You can add self power siren even the power is cut,
module back up battery to keep paging you,
glass tampering sensor to set off the siren before they reach in,
tilt sensor if they decided to tow it.

Keep in mind tho, if you weren't within the transponder/receiver's range to be notified, good luck!
