Message But without knowing you, it's hard for us to give you a straight answer.

As everyone else has already said, these cars are just getting older, and
therefore are getting more expensive to maintain. It's getting very hard
to find one that has been well-kept but now being sold - those who keep
them up tend to part with them only when they absolutely have to, and it
looks to me like they are quickly grabbed up by people they know who
know and respect how well the car was cared for.

In the recent words of YugoBernie, one of the more respected members
of this forum:

"Cheap, Reliable, Twinturbo. Pick 2."

Seriously.

Being 18, it's hard to cope with the lack of either of the first two of those,
so give that some thought. If you can swing it, just be careful - driving a
rear-wheel drive turbo car is not like anything else you've ever driven.
You can easily lose traction in some random gravel on the road, or the
rain, and before you know it the back end has swung around and you're
seeing the wrong view of traffic.

One last thing: practicality. When I was 18, I had a big Olds that could
carry me and five of my friends and a bunch of junk in the trunk.
Looking back, I'm glad I had that car then. The Z just wouldn't have cut
it for my 18-year-old way of living. Parking at school, in the city, at my
friends' houses didn't matter because that car was a beast and could
handle some door dings and ball bounces.

Anyway, I typed too much, so I'll stop, but you've got a whole lot of
information in this thread to make a good educated decision now. I know
the Z is exciting and sexy, but remember that the next car you get won't
be the last car you get...
