because you are watching the tree and having to react to the 2nd light, then brake. he was basically saying to creep up to the 2nd light by tapping the brakes slowly and controlled, making short stops... in the couple of demonstrations he gave, between the first stage and second stage lights, he had stopped the car probably 8 to 10 times until he got the stage light to flicker. He called it "bumping up". he could make the light flicker (laser beam)... in other words, he was able to control the car within a thickness of the laser. literally. the second stage light would flicker on and off as he sat there. that's how close he could get it.
it was pretty cool to watch... i plan to do a lot of watching... ps, nothing but love for the zhound... just telling you what the dude said, and showed us. lets review; nixit doesn't drag race... it's not nixits thing. he didn't stay at a holiday in last night, and he didn't save $5.oo on geico. he didn't become an expert overnight. It's just what the Bret guy said/showed us.
