They protect the bearings just as well as a sealed bearing unless, one was to submerge the car up passed the upper camber arms in water. Also, the bearing does not spin in a constant motion like a wheel bearing. It moves less than a quarter of a turn. The only reason ball bearings are used for this application is to give the most free moving travel possible to allow the rest of the suspension to work at its fullest potential. We have had no issues with prematurely worn bushings in the past 2 1/2 years including the severe duty vehicles, with our arms installed, that are both daily driven and tracked several times a month. As for the aluminum cast tension rods, I have seen the Kazama's snap in half right at the bolt points under continuous heavy cornering. I'll post pic of that for you as soon as I take them.
