Message it shouldn't be necessary. In theory, the SPL's should be stronger because of added thread engagement. It's hard to say whether or not the added thread engagement is worth losing the offset at this point. Sone have had issues with the lock collar getting crushed on the non offset arms when bumpstops were not used. SPL arms include bumpstops, but I'm not sure how effective they are.

The SPL arms are the only arms that have sealed bearings. The others only have sheilded bearings, which will still let dirt and water. This will eventually lead to failure. The bearings are replaceable, however.
