| :I was just wondering, for those that "road/circut race," how much to you budget per race. Right now my car is on stands till I finish up this whole PhD thing but I'm looking to attempt to regularly attend track events once I'm done. Definition; High Performance Drivers Education = 5x 20 minute sessions x 2 days = 200 minutes of track time = 3.3 hours per weekend of on track driving; - Entry fee = $250 - Track specific brake pads = $100.oo and last me at least 2 weekends, so $50.oo (I can go through 4 sets of Metal Master pads in a weekend. Ask me how I know :( - Track specific tires (kumho victoracer) = $1,200.oo and last at least 4 weekends = $225.oo. And i dunno where you are getting AO32rs for $150 each (mounted, road force balance, shaved and heat cycled). - Brake fluids = $40.oo per weekend - Fuel = $100.oo+ - Room and board = $250.oo - Incidentals = $100.oo
Best case Low Total = @ $1215.oo per weekend. Worst case High Total = @ $2040.oo per weekend. What I figured goes something as follows: :For 2 race days: :Tires $600 :Fuel $80 :Fees $200 :Oil $50 :Brake Fluid $25 :Brake Pads $100 :----------------- :$1055/2 races :I plan to treat the Z as a backup daily driver to another (more fuel efficient) car. So I'm going to try to keep her fairly streetable and not a full fledged race car. So I'll probably drive it on weekends and when I just feel like I need a pick-me-up from a bad day. I plan on most likely driving to events then swapping rims and tires, racing then swapping back (under the assumption the car can still move under it's own power). don't forget swapping brake pads, bleeding brakes, and adjusting suspension for the track (if available), then back again at the end of the weekend. Just wanted to know what other weekend racers end up budgeting. Note I assume that tires will only last 2 race events (A032R). Depending on the length of the tracks you frequent, you should be able to get more then 2 weekends on most any DOT race tire. Good luck and enjoy. Do a hot lap for me!
