Message power required to operate them and the lack of sufficient volume and shrouding - be that a Z1 setup or some other setup wasn't my point. I have seen a lot of fueling issues with Zs that have high electrical power demands as it simply robs the fuel pump of the power required to supply sufficient fuel to the engine under high-load conditions.

Because several fuses were blown on the electric fan setup, I am led to believe that there was actually a failing electric motor in one of the fans (or both) and it was generating higher electrical resistance, thus blowing the fuses.

Just be careful about what you resort to claiming to be the culprit of his engine failure. "Tuning" is a broad term that goes as far from just adding an intake filter all the way up to custom ECU programming, so I'm not sure exactly what Z1 is claiming as the tuning part they describe to be the fault of the engine failure. With that in mind, I would agree that the tuning was the reason, but it would be confined to improper tuning of the cooling system through the use of electric fans, of which were most likely suffering some internal problem of their own and drawing excessive current. I expressed these facts to Chris during the tuning in November.

One possible way to tell would be to hook his fans up to a battery and use an ammeter to determine how much current they are pulling. I know they were blowing the 20A fuses they came with, and that's a good deal of power - indicative of some problem with the electric motors.

The tuning of the ECU and the parameters used in the fueling and timing maps are consistent with any other normal Z making that kind of power. They are on the conservative side as it typically does not take that much injector pulsewidth on most cars to make a safe A/F. We didn't begin to see fueling issues until we were getting up to around the 600RWHP level, which is indicative of some sort of problem or another.

I just really feel bad for Chris.. He's a great guy that had a really awesome car and it sounds like there is going to be some expensive repairs to get him back up and going.
