Message We have had some great weather here and I got tired of waiting for my front trim panel to come back from the paint shop so I strapped on a piece of cardboard and went for a drive....

For a quick update this car has a high compression NA motor with stock TT manifolds and stock turbos bolted on. The car had all the "normal" NA mods as well - intake, exhaust, lightweight pulley, etc. I also installed an RPS clutch and flywheel setup and deleted all the emmissions "stuff"

Anyways, given all the changes made to the car over the winter, I figured that I would take it easy and find out the native boost of the car so I shut off the boost controller and figured that I would keep her below about 4000 rpm.

To my surprise and pleasure the car was making about 3 psi of boost at 3000 rpm in first gear. Between 3000 and 3500 rpm the car made about 5 psi of boost in second and in third gear at the same rpm the car made 7.1 psi of boost. The boost came on very seamlessly and smoothly and made a noticeable difference to the low end torque and acceleration of the car. And these were not hard pulls, no where near WOT :)

Unfortunately I noticed a burning oil smell coming from inside the engine compartment so I had to cut my initial drive short. No oil is coming from the exhaust so I think that it is just oil on the block somewhere, or a small leak from one or the turbo oil line fittings? Anyways I will be taking a look tommorrow and going for a little longer drive on Monday.

The car is running pretty rich so I think that I am leaving some power on the table right now. Ash, if you are reading this, I will probably be coming back for the ZEM fairly soon.

Next step is to log a few more miles and then head to the dyno and get a baseline set of curves and then assess things from there. Here are a couple of pics>>>

Ghetto style trim piece - Don't you just love Zip Ties (better than Duct Tape)

Finally out of the garage and off the bloody lift

The proof - Peak "natural" boost reading of 7.1 PSI
