the underlying photo itself has very little contrast. Not recommended, but okay to do, and sometimes necessary.In this example, the photo is more eye-attracting than the text, and should be screened back more so the text stands out, but then it's hard to tell if that's actually the case without seeing it in person. Since this article is on photography, screening the image into the background rather than letting it stand on its own in a smaller form seems counter- productive. Then again, the image at the size it is makes a good impact. So really, it's a matter of taste. As long as it's screened back enough to read the text without straining, it works. /Graphics critic mode. That should be a good article - looks like I'll have to buy this issue. :-)
