I first scribed where I wanted to cut with a sharpie, and simply cut them out with a new/sharp X-acto knife. Then I bent them out and used a couple of short blasts from a heat gun to keep them in place. Make sure to angle them out and down to ensure your wheels don't kick water into the IC area. It took at most an hour from start to finish. =]
