1: The V1 has a titanium case, not plastic. You're probably correct that the heat the case will absorb will cook the insides but I doubt it will be a problem in the 3-5K I drive per year here in WA. Also, the V1 has a temp range up to 180*F (ish) 2: I only drive my car when it's sunny which is also when I have my t-tops off. When I park my car, and I'm not putting my tops back on, I put the detector in the glove compartment and lock it and set my alarm so there is no exposure to sun or possibility of theft. 3. When I do have my t-tops on and driving around. When I'm gonna be gone longer than an hour somewhere, I put my sunvisor off which reflects a lot of the heat. With how I put the visor, the detector is barely affected leaving it just warm to the touch, nothing to be concerned about. Thank you for your concern though.
