inflation has been negligible if non-existent since 1996, and dont go on about gas prices cause one commodity in the US's case hasnt caused rampant inflation (you can thank Mr Greenspan). I sold nissans from 97-98, and in fact sold several 96's as late as december 97 as they were just sitting in jacksonville waiting to be ordered with huge dealer incentives on them. A Z car as it was then, 33-43k, wouldnt be much, if any, more than that now. IF nissan wanted to (actually renault) they could cut into the wild profit margins they are pulling in on domestic made platforms like the titan to offset sunk costs like tooling etc etc. There is no reason then that the Z32 would sell for anything approaching 60k, thats plain absurd. Maximas are right where they were in the late nineties (with the v6 altimas filling the slot of the base models) the upper models are a little more NOT due to inflation but due to target market. Will it happen, no of course not, no manufacturer has ever restarted production of an "obsolete" model, just because it would be cool. And you can bet the farm Nissan (renault) won't be the first.
