Message There are many voids you can fill with expanding foam. This will make a huge diffrence and unlike FatMAt or Dynamat like products will add little weight and will no empty your wallet. You can use the expensive rigid two stage type or the comon type you can get at home depot. If you only care about sound the comon home depot stuff if good and I've used the better stuff made by Hilti. It's great but should only be used above 50 degrees. In my car I filled all the structual members with two part rigid foam and I filled the body voids with hilti foam. The diffrence in sound is amazing, my other car is a Lexus so I'm a bit spoiled and I have a good reference point. The voids in the door sills made the largest sound diffrence. There are voids on the front side of the rear tire wells that also make a large diffrence. I also put a beed of foam between the door skin and door side impact bar. This made the door so much more solid sounding and it now closes with a solid thud. You can easily do both doors with less than one can, dont use to much, it's not necessary. I recommend doing one door at a time, then compare them. The diffrence will be addictive. You can use plastic sheeting or even a plastic bag to make a form or cover for voids with larger open areas. You can use a small peice (6x6) of fat mat and fill the voids with foam. Filling the voids stops sound transmission. Using FatMat, only minimizes panel resonance a trivial amount. Panel resonance is only a small part of the sound issue. Sound transmission is what really matters and FatMat like product do little for this. Foam with small air pockets is proven to be effective at reducing sound. Look up "Closed Cell Foam", in effect that is what can create with the hilti foam. Using a combination offers the best results. FatMat and other sheet sound deadening materials suffer from the law of diminshing returns or the more you use the less results you get. With FatMat like products your added weight and expense go up while your improvement or results lessen or do not increase at all as you add more material. Try the foam, if done right the results will amaze you. I leaned this by taking apart my Lexus. There is very little fatmat or dynamat products and plenty of void filling materials.
