Here's my unscientific "real world" observation. After I had a lightened crank pulley, lightened chromoly flywheel and SS driveshaft installed, my tach needle would "blip" much quicker up and down when I tapped the gas pedal. Now that may sound trivial at first, but I equate that to improved "throttle response." Now that I think about it, since the X axis on a dyno chart is RPM's, and NOT time, then the area under the curve would probably NOT be greater, as you said. I didn't have time to examine your references. I'm two minutes over the end of a thirteen hour shift at work. See ya!
