Message Yeah, with newer technology it is possible to make inroades in both max power and quick spoolup. It does seem that the gains in the new designs are pretty slight, though.

Another thing about these comparisons is that with the stock turbos, most people are still using the stock manifolds, etc, while on some of the highly modded cars on that list, their turbos aren't too laggy because they have a lot of other supporting mods which help minimize the lag.

In other words, if you just took the stock turbos off and put the new turbos on you'd see an accurate comparison of the lag, but when you change out the manifolds, cams, intake, etc along with the turbos in the process, the new turbos will look less laggy than they otherwise would.
