He's an ex-Nissan mechanic and he's been around Zs for awhile. Went to his shop and noticed a z on the rack, w/the engine in a million pieces on the floor. Then he pointed to the crate. I thought you couldn't get brand new VG30DETT machines from Nissan anymore! Apparently you still can; at $6,000/piece! Then he said the engine got messed up when the owner put Prolong in it. Asked about rebuilds, said it can cost about the same. I said what about Jun parts, he said they're crap and they don't even make good stuff for Hondas! He said he's seen his share of Jun flywheels end up on the floor b/c they have no "step" in them. Meaning, they're crap and Mueller only way to go. He also says using coatings in the engine is bad. Could easily come off and ruin the engine. He doesn't recommend Extrude Honing. Says it takes off too much off and soft material could easily be damaged. Asked about turbo upgrades. Said he can get virtually no lag and plenty of power using a T3/T4 upgrade! He said he can remove injectors no prob. w/o removing plenum. I've heard this before that this can be done. He said he never seen a z pass emissions w/cats removed. Removing fuel dampner hose doesn't help. Interesting I must say. Not sure how much to believe, but he definitely has more exp. w/this kind of stuff than me.
