Message There are several good compression manufacturers (sp?), but my opinion is:

Should *not* be oilless. Oilless means you can't do basic maintenance on it.
60+ gallons, you don't want it running all the time. And if you do any spraying paint, you don't want it running while you are spraying.
Needs to be a 220 motor, the 110's are whimpy and will burn out.

Also, make sure you get a dryer on it (don't want any moisture in your tools and lines), and drain the tank occassionaly.

I think those are the cliff notes from when I went looking for a compressor. My compressor is a 5hp 60 gallon deblivious (super sp?)

Also, because I am a cheap bastard at heart (or poor one), I bought mine for 225 w/ a brand new spare motor (was also a new motor on it) and some hose.

Also, side note, because I know that will move in the next year or so, and I am constantly working on my garage (because it was a POS when I moved in), I mounted my compressor on a platform w/ 4" casters (locking of course) and rubber mounting pads.

Good luck w/ it.

chris.
