| Re-read my message! I said his correspondence concerning his "horsepower loss" rumor is full of crap. Here's a taste: "That information was given to me by a Nissan employee in the Nissan USA headquarters in Gardena, CA, so I believe him." "According to the same source at Nissan USA, all 1996 TT's had 280 HP." Do you suppose he could ever tell me the employee's name? No. That he couldn't became even more significant when the contact turned into a "friend" in another e-mail. Here's more: "I checked out the microfiche, and there's only one type of camshaft, exhaust manifold and turbo specified for 5 speeds and autos. That was not the case in the earlier year cars. And it makes a difference.... It's tough to tune the engines differently if the mechanicals are the same...." (8/23/00) "I just re-checked the fiche for the 1996 TT's. The manual and auto cars do have different turbos. In fact, they're the same ones for 1995 and 1996.... So, it's possible to have different HP ratings! Rejoice!" (8/23/00) Now get this one: "I've done extensive research in the parts fiche: all 1996 Z32 engines have the same camshafts and turbos." (12/21/01) Did you catch that one? And: "Those [1996 sales brochures] I have here clearly show the difference between auto and manual in writing." And that's just the tip of the iceburg, folks. Like I said: believe what you want; it's your right, even if it's crap.
