Message Must say, was like being a kid all over again walking down those isles surrounded by a plethora of parts that are just begging you to find a use for - like a kid in a candystore. ;^)

BTW, Speedway U-Pull-N-Save in Daytona no longer has any 60mm Nissan throttlebodies. Even got the TPS on each of them.

So I spent some time this afternoon doing some development and taking lots of pictures along the way. I'm working on a full write-up of the 60mm throttle body conversion with parts-list and I'm still working out the finer details to try and make this a bolt-on solution.

I have 3 240SX throttle bodies, but while I was there scouring the rest of the field, I came across another Nissan 60mm body that is a much better suit. Here is a frontal picture comparison of the stock and this better alternate throttlebody.

The throttlebody used? =) Nissan Maxima, 1990, 4cylinder 2.4L. There were far more of these vehicles there than the 240SXs but most of them were already missing the entire engine. Price? $29.99 with a $5 core charge. I got a total of 6 60mm units with TPS. The fact that it has the coolant pipes and jacket on the bottom of the unit makes it almost identical to the setup of the Z32. It also has a partial-throttle vacuum port which will hook up to the EGR system if you still have it. Even better. It even has the "NISSAN" logo cast into the top in the same location as the Z32's.

The 240SX TB has the coolant jacket on the top and it must be cut off in order to fit. Unfortunately, cutting it off leaves a gaping area where the coolant jacket is within the unit and doesn't leave a lot to work with in terms of appearance.

I should have this setup done by next week and a full-writeup on it. And yes, the ECU was from the only Z in the 1600 some-odd vehicles on the property. Price? $34.99 + $10 core charge. Hella deal. =)

BTW, 704RWHP (no typo there) was made on a TT I tuned that was equipped with 60mm TB units from the 240SX - it only had HKS2530 turbos too, but the 3" exhaust, full 2.5" intake plumbing, and tubular exhaust manifolds were also used.

I hope to make the TB conversion a bolt-on setup for a number of reasons, right now primarily so that I can do an on-the-dyno comparison just to see what kind of benefits it has.

Stay tuned.....
