VA cops are using POP and true there are legal limitations. For instance, the "supposedly" cannot write a ticket based on POP. The POP is a essentially a pre-tracking device. Once they have a hit on POP they are supposed to go turn on the Ka (which is recognized in court). 99 to 1 though - the cop will write the ticket based on the POP, but how can you argue it? Contrary to convential wisdom, cops DO NOT have to show you the radar! I too use my detector here in VA. I've passed cops that were just pulling out to run someone down and my detector didn't peep. That to me says the cop tracked using POP and did not turn on the Ka. The poor uninformed motorist just thinks he got clocked using legal radar.
Every test I've seen rate the 8500 as best in detecting POP. V1 ran second, and there wasn't a third.
