Message I dont think my situation is news worthy... certainly not on the same level as what Toyota of Irving pulled last year. This is classic! A married couple went to the dealership to look at a new minivan. While they were testdriving it the dealership had a transport truck there hauling off their recent trade-in's to be shipped to Houston to be sold off at an auto auction. Well they loaded up the people's car (97 Grand Prix) on accident and it was on the way to Houston... Well when the people realized their car was gone the dealership realized what happened. They quickly made up a story that their mechanics were looking the car over to see if it were acceptable for trade-in. Because it was near closing time they said the mechanic's wouldn't be finished with it unti the next day... but in the mean time they could take the minivan that they were interested in home for the night. They did just that... took the minivan home thinking that their car was inside the service bay being evaluated. Next day comes and they go to pick up their car and turn in the minivan... but there's no car there. The dealership fesses up and tells the people what happened to their car and apologizes to them and tells them they've located their car and have it on transport back... and that they can continue using the minivan in the mean time. Well the car was sold in the auto auction and couldn't locate it. So they came up with this big scheme to cover their ass. They wrote up a phony sales ticket on the minivan showing that the people traded in their Grand Prix on the minivan... and according to that they paid full window sticker for the minivan and only got like 60% of the trade in value of the Grand Prix on trade-in. Also the Toyota dealership financed them through some financing company in California with a huge interest rate... like 14.9% (on a new car!). All this was done without the people knowing anything. Oh but it gets even better... the Toyota dealership then sent a Repo tow truck to get their minivan back at like 2AM in the morning... claiming that they reposessed the minivan because the people failed to come back to the dealership and pay the down payment within time! The people woke up to find that the tow truck ripped up their front yard and all their bushes driving across the front yard to get out... then 2 days later they get the Repo bill! This was covered about 6 months ago on a local TV news station. Never found out what happened...but those people got royally screwed.
