I know of a number of incidents were the actions of another cause an accident, and they were found at fault... even though they were not directly involved. I knew someone that tried to make a left hand turn on a 4 lane road (2 lanes each side) with no turn lanes, the middle lanes were also turns... cars were turning on both sides and there was limited visibility. Individual decided to step out a little seeing no cars coming, unfortunately someone in the middle lane oncoming jumped out into the second lane to continue and wasn't seen until the last minute. The person turning left stopped, and no contact was made, but the other car swerved and run up the curb and into some bushes and blew a tire... no physical injury to the driver, but thankfully the person went back (originally he had just gone after being passed since nothing happened with him, but had a streak of guilt and went back). If the person hadn't, not only would he have been at fault for the accident, but he would have been charged with leaving the scene of an accident... =( You most definitely can get in trouble for this kind of stuff. Personally I thought the old lady in the other car simply shouldn't have been driving, and overreacted, but that wasn't my call... so. =(
