They called and said they wanted to "show" me something. They had finished the exhaust and had the car on the lift... there's a guy in the car on the lift, 5' in teh air... the engine is running. They walk me underneath the car, and the asshat puts it in drive, foot on the brake (obviously) and begins reving the piss out of the engine. It, of course, rocks back and forth... nothing out of teh ordinary. The "mechanics" then insist that all 3 motor mounts were shot because "it shouldn't move like that", followed by "if you leave it here, we can do it for you for $750, the dealer can't touch that price. I'll even do it on teh side so as to keep some of the cost down for you". Meanwhile, I'm like $#@%$ you're beating the piss out of my car and telling me I should pay you for it? I walked out, knowing that the car was fine... and just to validate myself, I got a second opinion at a friends shop and he said the mounts were 100% fine. Rule of thumb: Don't trust anyone but yourself, and our TRUSTED tt.net vendors.
