If it was a formal proposal or business presentation, that would be the time to care, and that would also be the time to proofread and use "spell checking". "It's the internet" is a weak excuse often used by the lazy and/or unintelligent. Sadly, today's kids that grew up with spell checker are obviously helpless without it. Poor spelling makes what might be an otherwise intelligent person appear pretty dumb, no matter if on an internet forum or not.
