If you want your Z for fun, then yes, it will be a good investment if you can afford it of course. I have seen many conversion and all of them came out good, and each owner loved it. If you want your car for daily driving, you might want to think about it, if you hit traffic all the time, an auto is better, cause after months and moths of hitting that clutch back and forward at 10 MPH bumper to bumper traffic... you wish you got the auto instead the manual... As far as performance, well, the manual tranny will give you more options on how and what to do on the road, the auto tranny will just work as it was pre-determined to work, can't go crazy with it. Will the manual last longer than the auto tranny? YES! auto trannies are a pain as they brake a lot, it all depends on how "nice" you are to it and how good you keep it's maintenance. And yes, the auto will be faster than the manual, probably up to around 80 to 100 MPH (I think more likely to 80 only). Why? Cause of many things, you have to compare gear ratios, and the fact the auto tranny shifts faster than us humans (exept for some crazy people I know but that is out of the question).
