gear in the 1/4. My terminal speed was 122 MPH. Therefore I would have benefited greatly from lowering the gearing, as I could have used more of my final gear. As Chip said, you don't want to shift into 5th (as that will kill your ET), but you do want to use as much of 4th (efficiently) as possible. As I mentioned in my E-mail, if you look at most QUICK 1/4 mile cars, they are in their final gear around the 1/8 mile. A drag racing rule of thimb is to rev PAST your peak power (as the torque multiplication from the gearing compensates for the loss of engine torque).As long as you don't rev (significantly) past your peak power, gearing your car lower will allow it to get to the end of the 1/4 quicker. And, yes, taller tires reduce the gearing effect. Hope that is somewhat clarifying, Mark
