It also helped that the front brackets had already been made. Having the brackets, or "baffles", made of a thick piece of wood really helps teh sound quality. And by wedging the piece into the opening and sealing it with tape, the driver "thinks" it is mounted on a larger flat surface. That driver doesn't look crappy in the pic. I'd try installing them in some beter brackets and see how they sound before buying something else.
