Message Well, it's a slow day at work and my boss is out so I thought I'd entertain myself (and hopefully some of you). I just got back from Australia last week and I had the chance to attend the Telstra WRC Rally of Australia as well as get some R&R time. Well, enough talking, here's pics.

Instead of Burger King, they are Hungry Jack's. Same Whopper and everything but they have this thing called an Aussie burger. Apparently, those crazy Aussies like to put beets and eggs on top of their burgers. Nasty!

Classy public transportation

Admiring the wildlife?

Plenty of S-chassis Nissans, mostly S13s and 14s but here's one of the few 15s that I saw

My view from the grandstand seats for the super special stage

Look, there's Mikko Hirvonen

And Sebastian Loeb

Petter Solberg chatting with his crew. I got his autograph! :)

Colin McRae's lil bro Alistair's back (and car)

Classic rally car exhibition runs on the SSS. That's a 240Z, BTW. :)

Solberg getting it done!

Next day's country special stages. Loeb getting some air over the Bunnings Jumps.

And into the water splash at the bottom of the hill

Harri Rovanpera going downhill

And water splash

One of the many GTS-T's that I saw out there.

Glad I don't smoke

City of Perth in Western Australia. They like to brag about how big their state is. Several people commented to me that WA is 6x larger than Texas when they found out where we were from. They fail to mention only 2 million people live in the entire state. I would have like to have said 'Alaska is bigger than Texas too but noone really wants to live there either' but my wife told me to be nice. Nice city though.

We went to Melbourne next. They call it Mel-bun and several people corrected me when I called it Mel-born. Looks like Mel-born to me.

The rest of the trip was touristy crap and I dont know if you guys care for it but I'll breeze through a few pics. Kangaroos.

Koala in a tree. Lazy bastards.

Damn, foiled again.

Ack!

Too bad I didnt drive

Sydney Opera House

Sydney Harbor Bridge. Look closely and you'll see crazy tourists walking on it.

Anyway, that was my trip to Australia. Not too many Z's and the one's I saw I didnt have a camera for. I've been keeping a rather low profile lately due to the fact that my own Z has been out of commission for the last year. I'm very slowly in the process of putting her back together to sell and pay off some debts but I have a 2+2 sitting in my warehouse that I've set aside for my next project. My current project is a 1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S track/drift car. I plan on competing in the 2005 Formula D season so I hope to see a few of you guys out at the different venues like Atlanta, Chicago and Sonoma. Here's a few pics of it:

4A-GZE engine (factory 170ps) out of an AE101 Levin

J-Blood copy bumpers w/ V-mount IC/Radiator setup

My secret switches. NAWS=starter button, Drift=electric power steering pump, fan=fan (duh)

Temporary hood. Waiting for my CF drop vent to arrive.

This is what it started as

More pics of the buildup if you're bored are at [ http://www.twinturboz.net/ae86/?path=./projectsr5 ]

I'll be testing the car out this weekend at San Antonio Raceway if you SA guys want to come and check it out in person. I'll be out there all day Sunday for the drift event being held out there so bring a helmet and I'll take you for a spin (literally).

There we go, I successfully killed an hour from work typing this up. Hopefully you'll find it at least somewhat entertaining. Have a good weekend!
