But as to the "there is no relacement for displacement", you might want to look into the history of a guy by the name of Ken Duttweiler, who ran a V6 turbocharged Buick (Grand National) that destroyed whatever class record he was running in. The NHRA had to introduce another class so that he wouldn't make the other competitors look silly. Last I heard (a few years back), he was running high 6s at over 200 mph.
