Message Finished out the racing season with an HPDE at Lime Rock today. A good time was had by all. I took it pretty slow since it was my first time there and it was cold. Like freezing cold. So the track was pretty slick, and tires were just not sticking. In fact I left early when it started to snow a bit. Yes, snow flurries. I didn't want to push my luck, since I nearly lost it in session 3...coming over the blind crest of the uphill at the end of No-Name Straight, you have to have the wheel perfectly straight as you're on the power...otherwise, when the suspension unloads as you crest the back gets real light...trust me, I now know firsthand. And I have a great video to prove it =)

I had been pretty happy with my modified stock brake setup at NHIS last month, but it was barely adequate today. LRP is a pretty short course, I was turning lap times around 70 seconds (in traffic), and I was redlining 4th gear on the back straight (about 130 mph), which means about once a minute I had to pull the car down from 130 to about 60 mph. Interestingly, one instructor said that his goal every lap was to not lift after the left hander for the rest of the lap--if you look at the map, that's the first turn after the Big Bend at the end of the back straight--that's a lot of track not come off the throttle! Unfortunately I am not good enough to have that luxury.

Other than that, the car felt great. I don't know how anyone could want for more power than a Stg 4 ish TT puts out...I was as fast or faster than any other car out there on the straights and coming out of the turns (You may remember me complaining about no power out of the turns at NHIS, partly due to low RPMs...well since then I went from Stg 1 to Stg 4 =) Oh, and a SLP built Camaro SS driver told me my Z sounds "mean as hell." =)

Anyway these pics suck but I was cold and my battery was dying.

This poor bastard had an agricultural excursion...worse, it culminated with a huge splash as he landed in about a foot and a half of water. D'oh! You can see the chick's (tow driver?) jeans are wet up to her knee!
